Determination of Descriptor Values for Selected Volatile Constituents in Cinnamon, in order to Determine their Distribution Levels in Environmental Compartments
Summary
The research proposal presented herein describes the determination of descriptor values for a group of volatile constituents in cinnamon. The solvation parameter model will be used to calculate the descriptor values. For this purpose, gas chromatographic techniques will be used. The assigned descriptor values will be used to estimate the distribution of the analyzed compounds in environmental systems including industrial reactors, biological compartments and natural environmental compartments . Upon the completion of the project, the results will be published in an indexed journal with an impact factor greator than 2. The scientific community can use the published values for their experimental procedures. Therefore, repeated trials (which are necessary in industrial and environmental studies in order to get an average distribution ratio which does not fluctuate) are not required when the estimated value is known. Due to this reason the cost of an analysis in determining the concentration levels of selected cinnamon volatiles will be reduced at least by five fold.
Objectives
To determine descriptor values for, cinnamyl acetate, methyl cinnamate, ethyl cinnamate and to optimize the descriptor values for citronellal.
