  1. Determine the exposure of birds to Hg, Pb, Cd, As, and Se in important ecosystems of Sri Lanka.
  2. Determine patterns in exposure and bioaccumulation of Hg, Pb, Cd, As, and Se in birds belonging to different trophic levels and migratory status.
  3. Determine whether contaminant loads in individual birds are linked with genetic effects.
  4. Determine whether there is a correlation between levels of environmental contaminants in birds and their reproductive success.
  5. Determine the availability of Hg, Pb, Cd, As, and Se in the environment and food of wading and forest birds.
