objectives

General objective:

2. To determine the sero prevelance of anti-measles IgG among the same study group.

overview

This is a hospital based descriptive cross sectional study that aims to determine sero-prevalence rates of anti- measles and anti-varicella IgG in pregnant mothers attending antenatal clinics of De Soyza Maternity Hospital, Sri Lanka. Study will also describe socio-demographic factors and other associated factors as past history of infection and vaccination in association with immunity. Study will involve around 385 participants. Socio-demographic and other data will be collected by an interviewer administered questionnaire and presence of IgG for measles and varicella will be tested by Enzyme Linked Immuno-Sorbant Assays. The results of this study can be used to consider whether additional preventive strategies are indicated in the target population such as additional vaccination campaigns and routine health education regarding prevention of exposure to disease and post exposure prophylaxis.
